Fight against organized crime and anti-corruption work will also be empowered in order to regain the confidence of the population in the PERUVIAN POLICE.

Operational intelligence and the use of high-tech equipment to combat crime will be the two axes of the National Police to strengthen citizen security for the bicentennial. This was announced by the Prime Minister, Pedro Cateriano.

The head of the Ministerial Cabinet stressed that 22 municipalities of Metropolitan Lima have already integrated their video surveillance systems with the Emergency Central and announced that this process will continue to expand to other municipalities.

Likewise, he highlighted the use of high-tech equipment, such as drones and the Social Patrol Planning and Control Information System in 10 regions of the country to identify sources of crime and promote timely interventions against common crime.

Pedro Cateriano indicated that said improvements in operational intelligence are part of the “Fortaleza 2020” Security Plan, an action led by the Interior Minister, Jorge Montoya. He noted that, to date, said plan has allowed the execution of 40,000 operatives nationwide, leading to the arrest of 15,000 criminals and the disarticulation of 400 criminal gangs.

Additionally, it announced the integration of the radio communication system in the Police, which will allow nearly 700 police stations in 11 cities in the country to improve their emergency response capacity.
